Astrology

Well, we’ve had to put up with Mercury retrograding on us, but now things are about to change. On March 7th, Mercury turns direct and enters Aquarius. This is supposed to be a time of clarity and better communications.

There’s a lunar eclipse on this full moon. Powerful stuff. It’s in Virgo so the power is behind clear and organised changes for improvements.

We’ve got a solar eclipse on the 18th, moving into spiritual Pisces, so things might get a little dramatic and emotional.

I think it’s especially powerful to have a Spring Equinox coinciding with a new moon, as well as the new astrological year in Aries, the sign of fiery action. What an amazing natural synergy of new beginnings!

It’s time to perfect your backstroke as Mercury turns retrograde in the sign of the Fish just in time for Valentine’s Day! Since Pisces is the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, you are likely to feel a bit thin-skinned recollecting recent agreements, ideas and conversations — especially those pertaining to matters of the heart. Bear in mind that, because of the psychic nature of this water sign, anything left unsaid may emerge as much more important than feelings that have been put into words. However, don’t overthink every nuance of your emotions, silent or otherwise. Strive to maintain control over your mood, and don’t jump to conclusions until you have a handle on all the facts!

When Mercury reenters airy Aquarius on February 26, your more logical mind will return — somewhat. Mercury will still be retrograde, but the movement away from emotional Pisces into detached Aquarius will provide some clarity. Mercury retrograde phases are like an extended conversation, allowing you to repeatedly review and reinterpret the finer points of each moment. Take your time! With Mercury in this innovative air sign, you have the opportunity to develop your ideas more thoroughly and to return to trains of thought with those who can help. Additionally, if you know which house — or houses — Mercury is traveling through in your natal chart, you can use that knowledge to further utilize and appreciate all aspects of the current retrograde. And, of course, hold off on any major decision-making until after Mercury turns direct on March 7: Mercury retrograde periods are infamous for wreaking havoc on otherwise perfectly well-informed plans!

We’ve entered the astrological time of Aquarius!

If you’re sun sign is in the sign of the Aquarian, you may exhibit the following main traits:

Unconventional
Humanitarian
Rebellious
Independent

Of course, it depends upon the rest of your birth chart, but most Aquarians have a taste for the unusual, both in themselves, other people, and experiences.  They are not necessarily wild and flamboyant, but rather wild and experimental in beliefs and ideas. Aquarians dislike predictability or stifling views. They’ll occasionally say or do something to shock others, or play devil’s advocate in an argument, all to keep others on their toes. Essentially, they want to push boundaries.

Many Aquarians, and those with prominent planets in Aquarius, will be the moral fighters of the world. They’ll take part in protests, petitions, and generally fighting the establishment for the sake of the little people. Their humanitarian streak runs deep and they can even give their lives over to the needs of the global community. On the less beneficial side, their wonderful ability to see the whole, can deny them intimate understanding of people themselves. This can mean a cold front towards the needs and emotions of individuals. They simply translate love better through large organisations and global movements.

Despite their unusual ideas and idealistic dreams, they’re actually realists. They typical Aquarian is fiercely logical and infinitely curious. Unfortunately, anyone fallen under the charms of an Aquarian – after all, their attention was so, well, attentive – might discover that their interest lies in the newness and difference of you, rather than you per se. Remember that ability for detachment hinted at above. This doesn’t mean they’re fickle, but pinning one down is a task in itself.

If you have an Aquarian child, stifling their creativity and sense of right to freedom will only fuel their rebellious streak.

The Aquarian month (starting from around the 20th of January) means that we can all learn something from the sun’s flavour at this time.

The Aquarian sun shines down on us the abilities of independence, forward thinking and altruism. How will you bring these qualities into your life this month?
